Designs for Living A kitchen renovation for a
growing Newton, Massachusetts family required both structural and interior
design creativity from Luna Design Group. The goal was to create a
kitchen/dining area that would be both functional and comfortable for everyday
living, and easily transformed for more formal entertaining. |

To expand the cramped kitchen, Luna Design Group
relocated the bathroom and an existing exterior wall. The resulting structural
column was integrated into one of two finished piers, creating an architectural
gateway between the kitchen and dining area. Metropolitan Cabinet Distributors
of Westwood, Massachusetts supplied the bleached maple cabinets, and the
dramatic blue pearl granite countertops came from United Marble of Watertown.
Joe Luna commended Metropolitan's approach. "Their staff was very sensitive to
our design concept and worked with our office to ensure the cabinetry
integrated beautifully with the architecture." Recessed soffit lighting and
attractive suspended lamps from Wolfers Lighting add a touch of practicality
and elegance.
"Taking our clients' passions and creating 'favorite
rooms' and spaces where they can enjoy their interests is one important aspect
we put into design," says Robin Luna, AIA. "We carefully interview and listen
to our clients' lifestyle needs. We are sensitive and responsive to what those
needs are today, and to what they will be tomorrow." |
