Beautiful Interiors of the Northeast Blue
pearl granite countertops make a clear distinction between the vertical plane
of the cabinets and the horizontal plane of the counters in this kitchen design
by Joe Luna. The deep blue is further enhanced by the coolness of the ceramic
floor tile and the pendant fixtures.
Bleached maple was the wood of
choice, in order to accommodate the client's wish for a light cabinet that
would also be practical for cleaning the prints left by little hands. Finishes
and details were carefully designed to be traditional, while still having the
appearance of a modern kitchen.
The addition of a large picture window,
as well as a new three-panel sliding door at the eating area gives "an
expansive view of the backyard and an abundance of light into these rooms,"
says Luna. Further transforming this once dark and rather dreary place is the
addition of recessed ceiling fixtures and specialty lights to provide general
and accent lighting.
Blue pearl granite countertops provide a solid
finish that holds up well. According to Luna, "The dark color doesn't stain,
unlike marble which stains very easily and this is easy to
clean."
