Harvard Custom Home

Inspired by the pastoral setting and sweeping views of the Wachusett Valley, this custom home was designed as three smaller interconnected structures fanning out gracefully over the sloping site. Each structure borrows from the rural imagery of the individual farmhouse and barn.

Incorporating the homeowner's wishes for a home with rustic mountain imagery, the house is clad in stucco, fieldstone, decorative trims, and is built using timber frame construction. A prominent stair tower provides a pivotal anchor and appears to grow out of the ground with its stone base. Using fieldstone found on site, new retaining walls connect with historic stone walls, and the use of natural materials throughout brings the outdoors indoors. A grand 2-½-story living room is at the center of the home, featuring a massive stone fireplace, exposed timber trusses, and wrought iron chandelier. Two side wings flank the living room, housing many unique living spaces including an aviary, HAMM radio room, home theater with stadium seating, children's bedrooms with sleeping lofts and secluded third floor guest suite.
