Fairfield Center Office Building
Located in Roxbury, MA
Formerly the Roxbury Boys Club, this historic (c.1914) three-story 35,000 SF building was completely renovated into modern offices for three governmental agencies; the Offices for the Public Counsel Services, the Department of Public Health, and the General Services Administration (GSA).
The original landmark masonry façade was carefully restored and a new main entrance was added to the rear of the building, designed to reflect the modern urban grid. The existing building was completely gutted, a new elevator and building systems were provided, and a new interior layout was developed with offices fitted-out for tenants. A successful collaboration among the developer, federal, state and local governments, this historic adaptive re-use project was the recipient of numerous awards from the GSA, Boston Preservation Alliance, and Remodeling Magazine.
